March 2007 Highlights

--March 24. Saw The Metropolitan Opera's new production of Rossini's The Barber of Seville (with Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez, a graduate of Philadelphia's Curtis Institute of Music) live in high definition at a local movie theater. Fantastic!

--March 27. Saw General Anthony Zinni at the National Constitution Center. He talked about his ideas on leading people toward a common goal based on his experience as a soldier, a four-star general, and the adviser to the State Department on Middle East peace. He is an excellent speaker.

--March 29. Saw neuroscientist Erick Kandel at the Central Library of the Free Library of Philadelphia. His book, In Search of Memory, talks about a future where one day a "little red pill" will enhance memory for Alzheimer's patients, and a "little blue pill" will obliterate memory in trauma patients.

-- March 30. Saw a slideshow at the Philadelphia Museum of Art of the new Perelman Building. It will contain study room, gallery, staff offices and workrooms, paper conservation laboratory, and art storage facilities for prints, drawings, photographs and costumes.
