September 11 -- Awesome Pictures

These are some awesome pictures. Follow the directions below. There are 28 pictures in all so keep hitting "next" which is on the lower right corner of each picture.

WHEN YOU GET TO THE #20 PICTURE, HIT 'MORE,' THIS GIVES YOU 8 MORE SCENES. THEN HIT END FOR A BIT OF TEXT. (Article by E. B. White, 1949 )
Pictures were taken by a non-professional photographer beginning with a view from his living room window -- in Brooklyn!! -- which is truly amazing.
When you get to the last one, go back to the 1st one to see how the view has changed. This guy must have a fantastic camera!

The President's House Design Competition

A Joint Project of the City of Philadelphia and National Park Service to be located adjacent to the Liberty Bell Center in Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

They want to hear from you! From Wednesday, August 16 through Wednesday, September 13, 2006, the three-dimensional models prepared by the semi-finalist teams will be on display at the National Constitution Center at 525 Arch Street on Independence Mall. They hope you will examine the models and fill out an Evaluation Card provided at the exhibit or contact them to express your opinion. Please submit your comments no later than September 15. The President’s House Oversight and Selection Committees will carefully consider all comments before the finalist is chosen. They will also post comments from the cards on thier website shortly after the exhibit begins so that you can see how others feel about the models. For directions, hours, and public transportation information, please visit http://www.constitutioncenter.org/ and click on “Directions and Hours.” There is no admission fee to view the models, although there is a charge if you wish to tour the National Constitution Center. Click here to view electronic images of the models and read a brief description provided by each team.

From 1790 to 1800, Presidents George Washington and John Adams lived and worked in a mansion - the President's House - that stood a block north of Independence Hall. In that house (which was long ago torn down), our first two presidents literally invented what it meant to be the Chief Executive of the United States. The profoundly disturbing documented truth is that in this house, there also lived and worked at least nine enslaved Africans - kept by George Washington, not Adams - in the same era when the founders of our country were declaring that "all men are created equal." The story of the President's House is thus one of achievement and infamy - of the birth of a free nation and indefensible slavery existing side-by-side.
