Pennsylvania Ballet: The Firebird and Franklin Court
On Friday night, March 10, 2006, we saw Franklin Court and The Firebird at The Academy of Music. The two productions were magnificent. The dancers, costumes, and sets were perfect. In addition, the audience was attentive and enthusiastic.
Franklin Court, created by former Artistic Director, Christopher d'Amboise, is Pennsylvania Ballet's contribution to the Philadelphia's citywide celebration of Benjamin Franklin's 300th birthday.
The Firebird was originally created for the Ballets Russes and premiered in Paris in 1910. The music was by the then-unknown Igor Stravinsky. It was based on Russian fairy tales.
