James A. Michener Art Museum

On Thursday, August 24, 2006, we went to the James A Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA. We saw an exhibit: "Show Business: Irving Berlin's Hollywood," which was very interesting. Berlin worked with Jolson, Astaire, Crosby, Merman, Garland. He wrote complete scores to about 20 movies, from the Jazz Singer to The Polar Express. When Berlin started writing songs, the home entertainment center was the piano. The exhibit is through September 3, 2006.

We also saw "Witness" by Todd Stone, watercolors on paper. Todd Stone has been painting in Tribeca since 1974. He has a studio six blocks away from the North Tower of the WTC. He had a camera set up since 9-10-01 documenting the downtown skyline, a practice of many years. He was on a neighboring roof when the south tower collapsed. He took photos through 9-21-01. From these photos he painted what he saw. If you have a chance, check it out. The Mercer Museum is across the street. We plan on visiting that soon.
